What a Shorts link gives you

A Shorts link is youtube.com/shorts/ followed by an 11-character ID. YouTube uses the same ID in the video's youtube.com/watch?v= address, so VidsToGo prepares the Short from that ID and keeps its vertical frame. Links copied from the app with ?si= or ?feature=share at the end can be pasted as they are.

YouTube accepts Shorts up to 3 minutes long, square or vertical, for uploads since October 15, 2024 (YouTube Official Blog, October 3, 2024, and YouTube Help, checked October 19, 2026). Every Short fits inside the limits of this tool: MP3 and clips work on videos up to 10 minutes, and MP4 downloads on videos up to 4 hours.

What 1080p means for a vertical Short

VidsToGo names each quality after the short side of the frame. On a 9:16 Short, 1080p is 1080 × 1920 pixels and 720p is 720 × 1280. You choose among the H.264 MP4 versions YouTube has for that Short, up to 1080p, with the sound in the same file. A square Short stays square, and VidsToGo doesn't crop, stretch or upscale the picture.

Save a Short to your camera roll

iPhone and iPad

Open VidsToGo in Safari, paste the link and tap Download. Safari keeps downloads in the Downloads folder of the Files app (Apple Support, checked October 19, 2026). Open the MP4 there, tap Share and choose Save Video to put the Short in Photos.

Android

Paste the link in Chrome and tap Download. The MP4 goes to the Download folder, and most gallery apps list it with your other videos. If yours doesn't, open the Files app and look in Downloads.

YouTube Shorts to MP3

Select Audio before you paste the link to keep only the sound. VidsToGo converts the Short's AAC audio track to a 192 kbps MP3, about 1.4 MB per minute, so a 3-minute Short gives a file of about 4 MB. Music in a Short often belongs to someone else: keep the MP3 for sounds you made or have permission to use.

Keep only part of a Short

Select Clip to save a section between 0.5 seconds and 2 minutes long. Drag the handles on the timeline, or type the start and end in Fine-tune times, and preview the selection before you download it.

Private, members-only and age-restricted Shorts can't be downloaded, and neither can live streams or a channel's whole Shorts tab.
